Hiking at Feuerkogel mountain

The loviest hiking trails in the Salzkammergut

An almost endless hiking paradise is there waiting to be discovered by you in the middle of the Salzkammergut at the 'Ferienregion Traunsee'. Whether it’s a one-hour walk, a traditional hike or a "long, hard walk" spanning several days – the choice is yours, and means you can suit your hiking fitness level.

More than 50 kilometers of hiking trails are at your disposal. The Feuerkogel is the sunniest high plateau in Upper Austria. It is particularly suitable for leisure hikes as well as for extended mountain tours on the Höllengebirge in the Salzkammergut.

A family leans against a stone wall on the Alberfeldkogel at the top of the mountain and looks out over the lake, fields and mountains in the distance.

Tip: Europe Cross

It's not just families with children and leisure hikers who will find many different hiking options for every level of difficulty on the Feuerkogel. Even particularly sporty mountain enthusiasts will get their money's worth on the Feuerkogel.

We recommend a trip to the Alberfeldkogel viewing platform and the impressive European Cross (walking time approx. 1 hour, suitable for children), or a longer tour to the Großer Höllkogel or to the Riederhütte. From there you can continue the mountain tour and cross the impressive Höllengebirge.
